Camp
Picture 60 kids going into first and second grade + a room "decorated" with cotton batting all over to floor (to simulate a snow covered ground) = A giant snowball fight!
That was how Starter 2 began. A room packed with screaming kids throwing snow at each other and I look around and think, "There is nothing that I love more than this!" And it's true, I love large groups of kids! John said on his blog that his other "spiritual gift" is inciting riots among groups of small children. And if that's true, than my gift is getting groups of young children to work together. And that's what these kids did, with the help of some incredible faculty, we pulled off what I thought might never happen.
Our theme was "Christmas in July" and for our camp we divided up into teams to put together a Christmas Play. We had a set design team, costume design team, props team, drama team, and singing team. And somehow between campfire, meals, swimming, and games we had about 3 1/2 hours to pull together a christmas pageant. And I was amazed at what these kids (and facutly)came up with in such a short amount of time and limited resources. We had a great set, creative props, adorable costumes, kids who leaned their parts, and sang their songs. In addition these kids made a video, took pictures, made cookies for parents, made a program, and constructed a ticket booth. I was impressed!
So much fun, and I was reminded that there is nothing I love more than large groups of kids! I think I have more control of 60 kids than with 2 little boys, not that I'm hinting at anything.
