mess making?

After we finished cleaning up the kids toys, I was taking a few things downstairs. When I got back upstairs I hear the sound of tubs of toys being dumped on the floor! ARRGGGHHHH! I turn around and say to Luke, "We just put all the toys away, what are you doing?" I think John could hear the frustration in my voice, so he came to check out the problem. He goes over to Luke and then turns to me and asks, "Did you see what he was doing?" He was dumping out the bins on his toy shelf and then turning them over and stacking them up. His purpose being, to use them as steps to reach the top of his dresser. On top of his dresser is a gum ball machine (which he is still too young to take full advantage of, because he just swallows the gum). That kid is always into, what appears to be, a mess. Usually, if i am patient enough to watch or ask, I discover that it's not just random mess making, but that he actually has a purpose. Another example, yesterday he took ALL his toys from every bin and shelf and put them in this red, netted hamper. When I asked him why he was putting all his toys in the hamper, he looked at me perplexed and informed me that he was getting food for the monkeys. Of course! Why didn't I realize that?

Comments:
you mean he's leaving out the lions, tigers, and bears? Oh my!! :-)

My dear Shannon, honey, I'm afraid it doesn't get any better as time goes by. Mary will be seven in October and she STILL dumps out her tubs of toys all over the floor. I have to pay Hannah extra allowance to get her to help Mary clean up at the end of the day. And that's GIRLS. You have BOYS. Wait until they're teenagers and you have to hire a skidloader to clean up the dirty underwear and empty pop cans!!
