yesterday
late morning john calls me to see if we can go pick up two guys, on the river, who are attempting to canoe from Pittsburgh to New Orleans. somehow they got connected with us through a guy who we were with in Pittsburgh, last week. So about 5:00 p.m. we went down to Sawyer Point and met Rudy and Jeff. we took them to LaRosa's for pizza and then hurried home for a meeting with some people from church. we met with two couples, one couple is from Equador and the other Guatemala. it was amazing to hear their stories and the way the Holy Spirit is working in their lives. What an eclectic intersection of people, 2 from Equador, 2 from Guatemala, 2 from Cincinnati, and 2 from the river. Different languages, different backgrounds, different countries. it was amazing, really amazing. to end the night in prayer - sincere, genuine, hope-filled prayer. it didn't matter if i could understand everyone's prayers (because I don't speak Spanish) it was truely powerful. and we were united, even though practically strangers. I am so thankful for the opportunity to be somewhere that these experiences are possible, and somewhat commonplace. I don't know how to convey what i feel . . . but i know it's changing me and for that i am humbled and thankful.
