Starter Camp
I was the Dean of Starter Camp I, at Woodland Lakes Christian Camp, this past Sunday and Monday. It was a great two days. Our theme was "All the Children of the World." Our goal was to help the kids focus on our similarities and not our differences. John did a great job with one of our lessons where he helped the kids focus on this truth. Even though I like pizza and you like lasagna, we both like food. And if you like soccer, but I like ballet, we both like sports. Sounds simple, but it's also profound, especially in the body of Christ today. We spend most of our time focusing on our differences instead of uniting on our similarities. It is a convicting thought to consider that if we spent our time uniting on what we know, in scripture, we have in common then maybe, just maybe, people would begin to see a body instead of a mutilated corpse.
To get this discussion started I'd love to get a list of things we know in scripture we are called to do as a body of Christ. For example, maintain a peace that passes understanding, live in complete harmony, and have the attitude of Christ Jesus. What a testimony we would have if we could wrap our hearts and minds around these. A testimony that could transcend culture and time. Would you post things you are finding in scripture that we are called to do. I'd like to have a list that I can focus on living and could pass along to others as well.
